Fausse pub ... ! 😂
You are not sharpening on a honing steel, only honing!
Link to buy this item please?
Didnt show other side of knife. The belt goes up and damage knife.
Can the knife jig hold a dagger?
It can, but the blade shape will impact how well the jig will grip the blade. The only dagger blade I've got is an Microtech Ultratech and it hold that blade securely. If you're trying to clamp onto a steeply angled back section of the blade it might not work as well. If that's what you're working with, the Tormek Small Knife Jig gets around this by clamping the knife handle: www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/jigs-and-kits/products/tormek-small-knife-jig
This is massive upgrade to elite grinding solution, speed control better, much easier to align belt on blade grinder, and angle adjustment for blade grinder attachment no longer gets in way of large handle knives,
I really like my "KO2," the Elite Mark 2. Kudos to Work Sharp for all the meaningful upgrades!
The grey haired dude has such a wimpy scared sounding voice that I can barely even hear what he says.
I used it yesterday for a couple of knives, quite nice. Always had issues with the other angle setter.
I got my knife to 1200 and im out of stone. So what are the other stone do i need in between to get to 3000. Or even 8000
1200 to 3000 is a perfectly fine progression. 3000 to 8000 would also work. Try it, and if the finer grits feel like they're taking a long time to remove the scratches from the coarser grits, then you could try adding something like a 5000 grit.
natural stone but very expensive
F.DICK makes the best honing rods
What about putting black marker on the edge to see that I've sharpened it fully?
That's a great option too.
Tips: get a 6” stone adapter from Hapstone, with you can use any 1x6 stone From cheap china to best on market. Going with this a knife clamp from KakBritva, both specially made for this sharpening system.
Those stones sounded really dry
A steel only hones the knife back to a keen edge
It will be concave ... not straight
And don't forget to clean the knife before you cut anything otherwise you're eating metal shavings 😂
Yeh , and again another 45 $ for a piece of plastic junk just because of the name Tormek 🤮🤮👎👎👎
As a millwright I use a strip of sandpaper laid on the table or a file to sharpen my knifes. If they get real bad a bench grinder or an angle grinder clamped in a vise.
IM-313
I have a question about which stones I have? I have a Norton Multi-Oil Stone for reference. Which stones is the device using for my knowledge please? Thank you.
Any 11.5" x 2.5" stone will work in the IM313. Here are some replacement stones if you want to match the original grits: www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/norton/products/norton-crystolon-replacement-stone-for-im313 www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/norton/products/norton-india-replacement-stone-for-im313 www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/arkansas-stones/products/soft-arkansas-replacement-stone-fits-norton-im313
I’m having to clean my late father in law’s today. It’s looking good now. Very expensive. IM-313 is what I am cleaning up and getting ready for use. Thank you for your videos!
Trailing makes zero sense except for stropping
instructions unclear, i rested my tip on the table and moved the knife into my junk
Thanks. I enjoy my Tormek machine so was glad to hear you mention it.
Aren't honing rods for straighting / aligning the edge not sharpening it?
Dude, you should not be giving advice on this topic, you clearly don't know what you are doing
Honing rods DO NOT SHARPEN knives; they realign an existing bur. If a knife has been properly sharpened and stropped and HAS NO burr, those rods will do absolutely nothing. It's a placebo effect.
Apparently a guy made a vid on the steals, and they dont do anything Just saying, you should look into that maybe
Thanks and I ordered one.
We appreciate your business! Thank you.
This along with the extra fine diamond wheel should take it to the next level...
After the Extra Fine Diamond Wheel, the Tormek Leather Wheel will put an extremely fine edge on a knife.
This sharpener is great if you don’t care about the life of your knife just so you know
6
Thats is not sharpening. That is straighting the feather. Otherwise known as honing
Very helpful info, I've wanted to use the sharpening rods better. One point: your video colour is off, it's heavy on the yellow tones. Looks to be lacking reds. I'm thinking something happened during editing, unintentionally.
Slow is smooth, smooth, is fast. That is a true statement on so many things in life.
The fist 7 sevon seconslds hurt , me the stone and knife
a honing rod does not sharpen. it just straightens out the metal teeth or burs that get bent over.🍻
"Abrasive" rods for starters do not have any abrasiveness to them at all and they do NOT sharpens knives, they are used to remove burs and incorrectly used to straighten rolled apexes.
I already use the DT Diamond flat file; I have the one with the red hinge area, I don't know what the difference is with the one with the blue hinge, should I be using both?
The color indicates the grit. Red = 600 grit, blue = 325 grit. If you're getting good results with your flat file you don't need the blue. If you want to speed up the sharpening process, a coarser grit would help with that.
When using do you change wheels for different grits etc ?
You can do. Tormek have formulated their standard grindstone so that with the stone grader you can change its effective grit from 220 to 1000 grit. Otherwise, going from the grindstone to the honing wheel is often enough for most purposes.
I'm going to find out if it will work on the TSPROF ko3
Well? Does it? This is interesting. Thanks.

Well done video guys, just 3d printed a sharpening angle finder. but that paper one is a great trick.
It's fun trick! 3D printing stuff is something I've yet to get into. Some really cool things being made with it though.
i have something to confess... i never wash my sharpen rods before. is it bad?
Not if you haven't had any issues. The easy to clean rods are generally marketed towards commercial kitchens that need to follow certain regulations.
How do you think a splash n go stone will work as a hand held stone? I just don’t see it staying lubricated for long enough to be worth having over oil and diamond/ceramic. Thoughts?
Depends on how you're using it. If you have adequate access to water, that won't be an issue. But if you want something you can use in the field, personally I'd go with diamond stones.
@@SharpeningSuppliesThank you.
What stine progression do you use? Shapton glass 8k?
You nailed it sport
Very helpful. Just recently acquired an old Holub electricians knife that I cleaned up and needed some tips on sharpening that curved blade.👍🏻
to mention and show the steel in a video titled "sharpen lika a pro" is not very trustworthy, this method has been debunked, it does not *sharpen*
